School Colors and Mascot

The "Red Devil" as the mascot for Liberty High School originated from Miss Annie Boggs. She taught at Liberty High School in the 20s, 30s and 40s. She was a very well-known and well-remembered faculty member of Liberty High School. She was also the cheerleading sponsor for many of her years at Liberty High School.

The Liberty High School football team played their games in the 20s, 30s, 40s and 50s on the field of the old high school location at 310 W. Main Street, Liberty. The football field had very little grass and often created a cloud of red dust. Miss Boggs commented one day that the cheerleaders, with their white outfits coated with red dust, and the players, with their jerseys coated with red dust, looked like a group of "little red devils". From that comment, Liberty became known as the Liberty Red Devils.
