Seniors are invited to play the "PAYBACK" game at timeforpayback.com and write an essay using the following rules:
Choose one essay prompt
1) How has the PAYBACK game changed your perspective on the real life decision you will make when paying for college?
OR
2) What steps can you take NOW to in order to complete college with as little debt as possible?
CRITERIA:  Essays will be evaluated by NGP staff based on the following:
Prompt is clearly addressed.
Essay indicates a clear understanding of key concepts learned by playing the game PAYBACK.

Win a College Scholarship

Enter the 2019 Journalism Contest by writing a three-page article on the benefits of hiring people with disabilities.  This year's theme is "America's Workforce: Empowering All".  The contest winner receives a four-year scholarship to the South Carolina state-supported institution of his or her choice.  The scholarship pays for undergraduate tuition and fees.

The Upstate Association of Educational Office Professionals (UAEOP) is happy to announce its annual scholarship of up to $500.00 to a deserving student.  

The Upstate Association of Educational Office Professionals will award this scholarship to a deserving high school senior that has plans to pursue a degree in the business or education field.

Eligibility 

1.   Applicant must be a graduating high school senior in Anderson School District Three, Anderson School District Four, School District of Pickens County and School District of Oconee County.

2.   Applicant must have maintained a “C” average or better in high school and a “B” average in high school business or education courses.      

3.   Applicant must plan to enter a post high school accredited institution in the fall  
      term following  the granting of the scholarship.

4.   Applicant must be a United States citizen and a resident of South Carolina.

5.  Applicant's eligibility GPA and class rank effective the end of their junior year.

The OppU Achievers Scholarship celebrates students who transform opportunity into results. It rewards achievement in its many forms and honors those who create opportunity for both themselves and others.  Founded in 2016, the scholarship provides $2,500 for current or future education costs. Scholarship selections are made four times a year.

The Horatio Alger Association is one of the nation’s largest college financial aid programs in the country, and the Horatio Alger National Scholarship is one of the major scholarship programs nationally that specifically assists high school students who have faced and overcome great obstacles in their young lives. The scholarships are funded by Horatio Alger Members who, like the Horatio Alger Scholars, have experienced challenges but ultimately overcame them to become successful business and civic leaders. The National Scholarship is awarded to eligible students in all fifty states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico. National Scholars receive an all-expenses paid trip to Washington, D.C., during the spring of their senior year to participate in the National Scholars Conference.

 

Recipients receive a $25,000 dollar scholarship that comes with an immeasurable amount of support from the Horatio Alger Family.  While the money provides the necessary financial support for recipients to attend college, it is the support of the Association that will propel recipients to excel academically while giving back to their community. 

 

The following criteria must be met in order to apply for the Horatio Alger National Scholarship:

 

     Be enrolled full time as a high school senior in the United States and be progressing normally toward graduation in spring/summer of 2019 with plans to enter a college in the United States no later than the fall following graduation

     Exhibit a strong commitment to pursue and complete a bachelor’s degree at an accredited non-profit public or private institution in the United States (students may start their studies at a two-year institution and then transfer to a four-year institution)

     Demonstrate critical financial need ($55,000 or lower adjusted gross family income is required)

     Be involved in co-curricular and community service activities

     Display integrity and perseverance in overcoming adversity

     Maintain a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.0; and

     Be a United States citizen

Now entering its 20th year, the Youth Awards honors Latino high school seniors who excel in the classroom and community and for their excellence in various categories including: Business & Entrepreneurship, Community Service, Education, Healthcare & Science, Media & Entertainment, and Technology & Engineering.

Gold, Silver and Bronze recipients are selected in each category and receive a one-time grant to fund their college education or to fund a community service effort that tackles a social issue. Students are then positioned as role models in their community at local ceremonies with an audience of business leaders, elected officials, local organizations and our sponsors.

Once selected, recipients will be celebrated at 10 regional ceremonies across the country including: Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Northern CA, Phoenix, and Washington, D.C., and will become part of our broader HHF network of 100,000+ professionals and fulfill our unique cycle of leadership where we meet America's priorities in the classroom and workforce.

This $1,500 scholarship is open to seniors who plan to pursue a degree in the business field, preferably in the educational area.

Eligibility:

 

  • Must be a graduating senior
  • Must have maintained a "C" average or better in high school and a "B" average in high school business courses
  • Must plan to enter an accredited institution of higher learning in the fall term following the granting of the scholarship
  • Must be a US citizen and a resident of SC

This $1,500 scholarship is open to dependent children of SCAEOP members who are graduating seniors.

  • Must plan to enter an accredited institution of higher learning in the fall term following the granting of the scholarship.

The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation College Scholarship Program is among the largest undergraduate scholarship programs available to high-achieving high school seniors with financial need who seek to attend the nation’s best four-year colleges and universities. Each award is intended to cover a significant share of the student’s educational experience – including tuition, living expenses, books and required fees. Awards vary by individual, based on the cost of tuition as well as other grants or scholarships they may receive.


ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Senior standing – Plan to graduate from a U.S. high school in spring 2019.
  • Fall College Enrollment – Intend to enroll in an accredited four-year college beginning in fall 2019.
  • GPA – Earn a cumulative unweighted GPA of 3.5 or above.
  • Test Scores – Receive a minimum SAT total of 1200 or ACT composite of 26.
  • Income – Demonstrate unmet financial need. We will consider applicants with family income up to $95,000. Last year’s cohort of new college scholarship recipients had a median family income of approximately $26,000.

Applicants must:
Be seniors in a SC High School or undergraduates in a SC college or university.
Have a 2.75 GPA on a 4.0.
Be residents of SC.
Have a competitive or recreational interest in golf.
Attend an accredited public or private, four year college or university in SC in the fall of 2019.

Any senior who is a legal resident of South Carolina planning to major in Education in college as a freshman in the fall of 2019, may apply for the the South Carolina Teaching Fellows ProgramFellowships are based on academic achievement, references, community and school involvement, an interview and a writing assessment. Students must attend one of the ten Teaching Fellows Institutions. Currently, these include Anderson University, Charleston Southern University, Coastal Carolina University, College of Charleston, Francis Marion University, Lander University, USC Aiken, USC Columbia, USC Upstate, and Winthrop University.

Harry Hampton, Wallace F. Pate, David M. Cline and James O. Thomason Scholarships 

 

The Harry Hampton Scholarship is a 4 year $5,000/yr scholarship that applies to students who wish to further their education in the natural resources discipline such as wildlife biology, fisheries biology, forestry and marine science. 

The Wallace F. Pate Scholarship  is a one year $2,500 scholarship that applies to students who wish to further their education in the natural resources discipline such as wildlife biology, fisheries biology, forestry, or marine science. 

The David M. Cline Scholarship is a one year $2,000 scholarship that applies to students who wish to further their education in law enforcement/criminal justice/forensic science. 

The James O. Thomason Scholarship is a 4 year $2,000/yr scholarship that applies to students who wish to further their education in print or photo journalism, advertising, public relations, or mass communications.
