Theatre at LHS varies from year to year. The goal of Ms. Bryant, the theater teacher is for students to explore as many kinds of theatre as possible so that the students come out well rounded whether this is a hobby or a career path. This with class productions, school wide productions, performances for study hall, the student body, and the middle and/or elementary school. In Ms. Bryant's  time at LHS students have performed shows with animal makeup, puppetry, and realism.  Student's strengths and weaknesses are taken into account when choosing shows so that they can feel confident but also grow.
Another part of our theatre program is our Thespian society. This is a theatre honor's society that anyone who participates in theatre can join. As part of this society, we do outreach, go to see professional performances, and we go the Thespian Festival where we can learn and perform.

More about our program from 2020-21 Thespian President Stephanie Jewell
Theatre at LHS is a place where you can try new things and be who you want to be. Theatre at LHS for me has been a place where I can come out of my shell and do things that I wouldn't do in everyday life. Theatre has helped me with speaking in front of an audience. Our theatre program is the place where anyone who may feel like they don't belong, can feel like they belong. The LHS Thespian society is a place where all theatre students who are involved in theatre can meet and discuss information about theatre opportunities throughout the school year. Both the theatre and thespian society at LHS have shown me that you can be yourself and feel accepted for just being YOU!
Even more from 2020-21 Thespian Vice President Emma Reeves
Here at LHS, we provide a great theatre program where students have the opportunity to step into the spotlight and shine! In our classes, students will obtain new acting skills, memorization techniques, play analysis, set and costume design, character development, theatre history, and  director expectations. LHS offers a variety of theatre classes where you can be apart of it all! Everything you learn in class you get to do hands on for productions. Throughout the year, Mrs.Bryant will direct 4 shows including a school wide musical and a set of one acts. A few the shows we’ve done in the past are 13 The Musical, The Old Man and the Old Moon, Narnia, and Fortress. We understand that the stage can be a little intimidating, however, in our drama program there is a place for everyone! If you don’t like being onstage, there will be spots in the light and sound booth as well as positions in assistant directing, stage managing, and costume/set design. As you participate in theatre productions and help out in the theatre community, you will get points which will go towards your chances of becoming a member of the international Thespian Society. The Thespian Society is a honors society for high school drama students who will meet monthly to discuss new opportunities, field trips with schools across the state of South Carolina, competitions, and scholarships! Theatre at LHS is not only a great introduction to the world of theatre and drama, but it also comes with great friendships that will last a lifetime.
