Here's a list of Web sites particularly useful to students.

• File the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online, also known as FAFSA on the Web. It's fast, free, secure and an easy way for students to apply. Students who apply online will get their application results 7 to 14 days faster than if they mail a paper to FAFSA. Students can print a paper copy of the FAFSA to use as a worksheet. The FAFSA is also available online in Spanish. (See Pin Registration below!)

  • Tell your friends! This is the official site!
    Do NOT visit a ".com" web site. If you go to a ".com" site, you will probably be asked to pay to submit the FAFSA. Remember, the first F in "FAFSA" stands for "free" – so use the official government site to submit your application.

• Pin Registration - where students and parents can request a Personal Identification Number (PIN). The PIN may be used as an electronic signature for FAFSA on the Web, Renewal FAFSA and Corrections on the Web, and to access the National Student Loan Data System.

• South Carolina Student Loan Corporation - South Carolina Student Loan Corporation serves the students, parents, and schools of South Carolina by providing comprehensive loan programs in a professional and friendly manner.

• FinAid is an award-winning site that has grown into the most comprehensive annotated collection of information about student financial aid on the web. Access to FinAid is free for all users and there is no charge to link to the site. FinAid has a stellar reputation in the educational community as the best Web site of its kind. It's comprehensive, it's informative, it's objective--and it's the first stop on the Web for students looking for ways to finance their education.

• The College Savings Plans Network formed in 1991 as an affiliate to the National Association of State Treasurers. Intended to make higher education more attainable, the Network serves as a clearinghouse for information among existing college savings programs.
