RE: Introduction of New Liberty High School Boys Basketball Coach

Liberty High School announces Mr. Brenden Marcell as the new Boys Basketball Coach at LHS. Coach Marcell is coming to LHS from Greenville High School where, as an assistant, GHS won back to back 4A region titles. Prior to his most recent stint at GHS, Marcell served as the varsity coach at Lugoff-Elgin (2019-2021) where he was rebuilding the program before they, as a family, had to relocate back to the Upstate. From 2016 to 2019, Coach Marcell was the Varsity Assistant Coach at Dorman High School and helped lead them to three consecutive 5A state championships. Coach Marcell has also served as assistant coach at both Newberry College (2013-2016) and Coker University (2012-2013).

Coach Marcell received a scholarship to play collegiately at Coker University following a standout high school career at Greenville Tech Charter (Class of 2008).

Coach Marcell is married to wife, Caitlyn, and they have two sons: Jameson (age 6) and Killian (age 3).
